Cara was one of 10 finalists, whose 'eco-conscious' entries featured at the Design Indaba.
Brief: To create an eco-friendly rug for a young contemporary home. "The design should respect Woolworths’ Good Business Journey & appeal to their target market. References to Africa should be made in a non-clichéd manner."
Response to the Brief: To use Woolworths’ waste to re-create a rug product. "My aim was to Re-use and Recycle material that is used in the manufacturing of everyday products and sold in-store. I wanted my rug to be a functional object for the home."
Concept: To gain community involvement through handcrafting the item, providing the “greenest” manufacturing process. The design itself I wanted to be cozy; having a ‘jersey- inspired’ look and feel.
